It was a day that only God could have octrated!
We started by going to The Roosevelt house in Glen Cove. Taking the tour around the house and learning about Theodore and Edith Roosevelt actually encouraged me. Discovering that I am such an old soul and that I enjoy the little things in life. I absolutely loved their house, the way things were laid out. The way she had her room, and he had his. When her curtain was closed to her living area, even the president of the united states had to knock. She loved tea, roses and reading. The deck with rocking chairs overlooking their pastures was so calming. Their great room that was pretty much an all purpose room. When needed was served as conference room, and the conference table was round so no one would sit at the head of the table. When it was bad weather it also served as the kids play room where they would ride their bikes. They would also move the carpeting and use it as a dance floor. How they loved reading and music!
After, we then went to planting fields arboretum. We prepared a picnic; the menu was French Onion Soup, Coffee, Pasta sausage and spinach, autumn slaw and grapes. We asked the parking attendant where would be the best place, he told us Coe Hall. That is exactly where Anthony wanted to go, by the mansion. So off we went. Anthony lugged all the stuff all the way across “the park” as we parked on the opposite side of the grounds. We get there, and there is a guy playing the guitar. I tell Anthony, just a little further, the guy then gestured for us to sit right beside him. He played music while he sat on the bench, we sat having our picnic meal underneath the tree staring at the mansion. It was picture perfect! When we were done eating we got to talking with him. He shared his story of how he not only got to meet the guitarist for Led Zeppelin but he got to give him back his guitar and case. Right before we said our goodbyes he played his original song called “Rebirth”. All I could say was how perfect the day was and how in owe I was of how much God was in every detail. How we could not have planned it any more perfect.
As if this day could not get any better, while we were walking around, we come across the rose garden. It has been one of my dreams to take pictures of Roses. When we went there for my birthday a couple of years back in July, every single rose was dead. This was September, so I was expecting the same thing. Nope, every single one of the rose bushes had at least one blossomed Rose. P.s. I took over 1000 pictures in that Rose Garden!
The lesson I learned was that not only does God grant you the desires of your heart, but He also orchestrates every single detail, if you let Him, all we have to do is show up!
