Today’s Paint Lession

Today I started painting the memorial Box for my beloved cat from Highschool, Shianne.

I treated it with regular gel – glossy – before I started painting.

She was a white persian cat so I am painting it black and white. I usually like mixing my own colors, but this I decided to use premixed.

I used “vanella” for the white and “pavement” for the black. It softened the appearance of the box and was not so bold.

The lesson though, is to paint the gel in the direction of the wood. I did not do that for the body of the box, but I did that for the top. I am glad the top was, at least so her pictures are not affected. But going forward, paint in the direction of the grain. I feel like this would be a no brainer…. But lesson learned!
